Chrystia Freeland is a Canadian politician, journalist, and author who has become an influential figure in both the political and economic spheres. Born in 1968 in Peace River, Alberta, Freeland was raised in a politically active household, with her parents being leading figures in the Canadian social democratic movement. This upbringing shaped her interest in politics and led her to pursue a degree in Russian history and literature from Harvard University, followed by a Master’s degree in Slavic studies from St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford.
